THE Federal Excessive Court docket in Lagos has ordered {that a} sum of N250m allegedly diverted from the Niger Delta Growth Fee must be forfeited to the Federal Authorities.
The court docket, in a ruling on Wednesday by Justice Rilwan Aikawa, made the interim forfeiture order.
The order adopted an ex parte software by the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee.
Head of Media and Publicity on the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, mentioned in a press release on Thursday that Justice Aikawa granted the prayers within the ex parte software following argument by the fee’s counsel, Usman Buhari.
“Buhari, within the software, acknowledged that the cash had been illegally diverted from the NDDC, by way of a contract awarded by the Federal Authorities of Nigeria.
“Justice Aikawa, in a brief ruling, granted all of the reliefs sought by the EFCC and ordered the forfeiture of the cash,” the assertion indicated.
The matter was adjourned until July 9, 2020.
