Principles of all-round success – Daily Trust

Success is one thing we all crave but, not everyone enjoys it. The question then is, why are some people successful and others are not? In the same family, some are successful, others are not. The same thing applies to people in the same church, same neighbourhoods and even nations.

Let’s get some answers from the Bible.

Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”

Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

There are many laws that lead to success, but I will summarise them into four.

  1. Stay clean. Righteousness is the fundamental requirement for achieving all-round success and for walking in prosperity and abundance. 1Thessalonians 5:22 is short but potent. It says, “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” Stay clean. I wish Adam and Eve heeded this advice at the beginning! I wish I did at some point in my life! You will one day wish you did if you don’t now. Sin promises so much but delivers so little. Right from the of Garden Eden, the deception has been in place. Adam got less than he was promised. He expected wisdom but he got a corrupt mind. He expected life but he got death. Righteousness promotes, sin demotes. Nations that allow corruption to thrive always remain poor. Just look at Nigeria and other corrupt nations! Until we eliminate corruption from this nation, our people will continue to wallow in poverty. Study the rewards of holiness or righteousness in Deuteronomy 28:14. Righteousness is living by the laws and principles of the Kingdom of God. This includes walking in love, abstinence from sin, applying the laws that govern wealth, relationship, health, etc. Stay clean if you want to stay blessed.
  2. Stay connected to Christ. He said in John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” Stay connected to Christ, in praise, in worship, in intimate and regular prayer, in studying the Word of God, etc. Stay connected in fellowship with other believers. Stay connected if you want to be successful in every area of your life.
  3. Stay under control. A man was arrested by the police for drunk driving. He was told he couldn’t drive home and that they’d have to help him. He protested and said he was in control. They told him to walk in a straight line and he was going left and right and everywhere. It was obvious his thinking was out of control. God will not put you in control of much if your life in not under His control. Dominion is given to the obedient. Be ready to avenge all disobedience when your obedience is complete the Bible says. Everything surrenders to those who surrender to God. You command power, wealth, and respect when you keep the commands of God. Be guided by the Word of God. Depend on the Holy Spirit to guide you. Make Him your Shepherd and you will not lack anything. Psalm 23:1 says, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.”
  4. Take control. Take responsibility for doing those things that will make you successful. It is your responsibility to learn. It is your responsibility to meditate on the Word if God. Power to get wealth has been given to you, use it! But let me close with this. Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…” Not some of what you think, all that you think. God answers your thoughts, not just your prayers. You become what you think. Don’t think anything you don’t want to become. Don’t think what you don’t have to see in your life. What you think you create. If you think life you create life, if you think death, you create death, if you think failure, poverty, sickness, etc. you create them. So, don’t think what you don’t want to create. TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR THOUGHTS! Use Philippians 4:8 as a guide.

Take responsibility for creating the life you desire by doing honest things. Dig inside you to find your potential. It is also called your gift. Your gift is the source of your value. You get paid for the value you bring. The Bible says, “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” (Proverbs 18:16). A man’s gift is so powerful it makes room for him before ruling authorities.

Surrender to your gift if you want to succeed. It’s true you have your gift, but the question is, does your gift have you? Until you identify your gift and surrender to it, it will not produce for you. How do you know that your gift has possessed you? When it starts to determine how you spend your time, where you go, what you do and who you hang out with, how you spend your resources, etc.

When Jesus was baptized and the Holy Ghost came upon Him, He came into awareness of His gift. His gift took Him over. As He began to use His gift, His fame started spreading like wildfire and people came looking for Him from far and near. Once you allow your gift to take you over, doors begin to open for you. His life was never the same again.

Your gift is what makes you a people-magnet. It makes you a money-magnet.

Your gift could be marketing. It could be creativity (remember creative artists – singers, actors, producers, etc. and how they are now making money?), it could be sports, it could be administration, it could be management, it could be writing, it could be information technology or any other technology, it could be cooking delicious meals, it could be service.

Psalm 72:7, “In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.”

From today, you will command wealth. You will flourish and enjoy peace, in Jesus name!

From today, you will rule and reign in your world! God will be working with you to make things happen, in Jesus name!!!
