The Justices of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria hears appeals from the lower court.
The Court of Appeal is an intermediate court in most of the cases save for where any statutes provide that the Court of Appeal shall serve as the court of final arbiter. For instance, pursuant to the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Court of Appeal is a final court of arbiter on all matters relating to employment in Nigeria and the election petition for the State House of Assembly and National Assembly.
In deserving circumstances provided by the law, an appeal shall lie from the Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
The Court of Appeal is headed by the President who is constitutionally empowered to make rules for the Court.
