Ex-EFCC Boss Speaks On Defection Rumour Ahead Of 2023

Nuhu Ribadu has said that he has no plan to leave the APC for the PDP

– The former EFCC boss was reacting to claims that he has defected to the opposition party ahead of the 2023 polls

– Ribadu said that he is not leaving the APC for any other political party

The former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, has reacted to claims that he has joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

On his Twitter page, Ribadu described the claim as a scam scripted by some irrelevant schemers to mislead people.

The former EFCC boss, therefore, called on Nigerians to disregard the false reports, adding that he has no intention or plan to leave the ruling party.

He wrote: “So because a few irrelevant people went to scam someone by namedropping another person then that get spinned as “Ribadu moves” or decamps.

“I couldn’t believe desperation can lead to scripting of such a poor propaganda twist.”

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Ribadu distanced himself from a statement alleging that bandits were recruited by President Muhammadu Buhari to remove Goodluck Jonathan from office.

Ribadu in a statement on Thursday, February 6, stated that the report which has gone viral across social media is not from him.

The statement which was credited to Ribadu back in June 2019 alleged that Buhari sought the help of mercenaries to claim power for the Fulani group in the event he lost the presidential election back in 2015.

The statement further reportedly said that after President Buhari won the election he didn’t need the bandits which forced them to invade people’s homes.

Ribadu described the message as cheap blackmail and urged the people to ignore the statement.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Buhari was said to be having a closed-door meeting with former Nigerian leader, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan at the Presidential Villa Abuja.

This came after President Buhari had a crucial meeting with service chiefs over the rising level of insecurity throughout Nigeria.

Reports claimed that Jonathan was seen on his way to the office of the president for the meeting which started around 1:45pm.
